Tulsa Community College has announced the 2026-2027 season will be the final season for the Signature Symphony at TCC. The Signature Symphony was formed in 1978 and moved to TCC in 1996 as the professional orchestra-in-residence for TCC’s VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education.

“This was not an easy decision. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to the Signature Symphony,” said Leigh Goodson, Ph.D., TCC President and CEO. “However, the College has a responsibility to carefully evaluate its use of resources and maintain a strong commitment to financial responsibility with a focus on student success.”

The decision to close the Signature Symphony follows a financial review that included operating costs, ticket sales, and concerns about long-term sustainability. In addition to financial and in-kind support, TCC has continued to subsidize a large number of tickets.

In 2018, the TCC Board of Regents created an agreement to provide funding for the Signature Symphony. As part of that agreement, TCC’s support of the Signature Symphony would cease when those funds were exhausted. Due to the incredible generosity of the Tulsa philanthropic and arts community, that support extended the orchestra’s time at TCC far beyond what was originally anticipated.

The closure will affect approximately 70 part-time, contracted professional musicians and four staff. It will not affect TCC academic programs or currently enrolled students.
