The 31st annual 4th on the 3rd concert will be Signature Symphony at TCC's special celebration of days gone by and times to come.
It was 1981 when Tulsa Parks and Recreation's Department asked the "Tulsa Little Symphony Orchestra (now the Signature Symphony)" to create a special presentation at Mohawk Park for the people of Tulsa. There was a great crowd response as flights from Tulsa International Airport were diverted to east-west takeoff and landing as we played the 1812 Overture with cannons.
Two years later, the Parks Department moved the celebration downtown to Boulder Park and the tradition lived on for 23 years. When the Symphony began its residency at TCC,the dress rehearsal on July 3 was made open to the public. Thus began the 4th on the 3rd patriotic concerts at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education, a popular new tradition ever since!
The 4th on the 3rd is a family-friendly experience of the patriotic and American music we all know and love. The Signature Symphony will be joined by the Signature Chorale, plus soloists and special ensembles. A tribute to the Armed Forces will also be included in the evening's events. Make plans now to join us for this traditional patriotic music celebration in air-conditioned comfort at the VanTrease PACE!
